Grid Club - http://www.gridclub.com - Gridclub is the official DfES website for upper primary, lower secondary children.  It offers them the chance to join clubs, complete online activities and get help with homework projects.  Within the clubs children can communicate with other GridClub members within a safe environment.  The 'Look it Up' is a research area, offering a range of reference tools.  The dictionary is very child-friendly and automatically produces a description of a work once it is typed in.  There is also an online thesaurus and an atlas.  In track back, children click on a time period and are shown a historical scene from that time.  They can move around the scene and click on an icon to find out more.
