IASL (International Association for School Libraries)  http://www.hi.is/~anne/iasl.html - fosters links between school librarians internationally and information on professional issues, school library resources on the internet, publications and the IASL listserv.  Excellent links for teachers and librarians: resources, links to school libraries on the web, tips on getting your school online and wired.
Internet Library for Librarians  http://www.itcompany.com/inforetriever/index.htm -comprehensive listing of resources for librarians on the Internet.  Excellent organisation of sections like "ready-ref" makes information a pleasure to find.
LION (Librarians Information Online Network)  http://www.libertynet.org/lion/lion.html - maintained by the library services of the School District of Philadelphia.   Although American, this is a very comprehensive site covering almost every aspect of school librarianship.  Useful links.
Library Association  http://www.la-hq.org.uk - searchable site.   Well organised site with plenty of information on what is happening in the library profession, information for members, how to become a member, professional issues, awards etc.  Advice on career paths, education and training and how to obtain Chartership.   Also useful links to the INFOMATCH Recruitment section of the LA with useful job hunting advice.  Also has the LA Record, the LA's official publication available online, with some articles available fulltext.

National Literacy Trust  http://www.literacytrust.org.uk   - the site focuses on literacy intitiatives in England, Wales and Scotland.   Links to policy documents and articles as well as information on individual literacy projects in different area.  Information on how to start a Reading is Fun Project (RIF).  Useful links to other sites dealing with literacy in the UK and contact information if they don't have a web site.
School Library Association   http://www.sla.org.uk   - membership information available on this site, publications available, upcoming events etc.
School Library Journal   http://www.slj.reviewnews.com - web companion to this invaluable print resource - selections of book reviews (the best of), selection of feature articles.  "Curriculum Connectors" links to lists of resources and book reviews on selected (American) topics, but useful to browse for ideas especially for hard to find resources.
School Library Links   http://www.nyx.net/~rbarry/ - an excellent site.  One stop shop for school librarians in spite of the mainly US perscective.  Very comprehensive links in each subject division.  Site maintained by Kathleen Gentili, a library media specialist.  Very useful section on Acceptable Use Policies, what they are, and why a school might need one in place, as well as good examples of acceptable use policies already compiled by various schools.   Valuable section on cataloguing (from a school library perspective), classification and automation.  Some good links.  No longer being updated.
Scottish Book Trust  http://www.scottishbooktrust.com   - links to Writers in Scotland and the Writers Register and Shelf Life, the only online magazine devoted solely to Scottish children's literature, events and reviews.  The site is mostly descriptive of the Book Trusts' activities.
Scottish Library Association SLAINTE   http://www.slainte.org.uk   - searchable site: for names (people), organisations, publications, events or places relating to Scottish libraries.  Links to "Gateway to Scottish Authors" site, links to the Scottish EARL site, which is a new project run by the Scottish Library Association, the Scottish Library and Information Council and EARL. (EARL - Electronic Access to Resources in Libraries - is a consortium of public libraries, associate partners and related organisations)  Plenty of local Scottish library news, good if you are looking for specific Scottish information.
