The Artefact Boxes are a collection of genuine and replica artefacts, which may be borrowed for a four week loan period to support the curriculum in the classroom. Some are single items, others are placed in appropriate collections. All the objects in the collection are suitable for use in primary, secondary and special schools.
The collection is intended to enrich and extend pupils' experience and knowledge of the subject, whilst developing the skills for working with objects.
All the artefacts in the collection are designed to be handled, providing pupils with an opportunity to examine evidence from a wide range of non-book materials.
A menu of available topics is circulated to the primary and special schools via the topic box collection menu. Secondary schools receive a separate mailing.
